This conversation with Dr. Don Beck lead by professional facilitator Doug Kruschke focuses on Spiral Dynamics, a developmental/evolutionary/emergent framework for value systems, world views and belief systems, along with the Four-Quadrant framework of integral philosopher Ken Wilber.

Dr. Beck in "A Challenge to Leadership" lays out 6 levels or stages of evolutionary value systems called "memes", or units of cultural transmission in the "first tier". He then describes the 2 levels that research indicates are on the cultural and social horizon in the "second tier". The viewer is taken through all eight memes with many examples from the areas of business, government, and non-governmental organization.

Dr. Beck seriously takes on the concern that most leaders have - How can they be more effective and efficient. How can resource managers make better decisions - - - decisions, which affect multiple constituencies often of a global nature (and increasingly of a global impact). How can an organization wisely and judiciously allocate precious resources that must serve individuals, families, neighborhoods, communities, bio-regions, states, nations and the globalized earth – (multiple constituencies with stratified and differing values)? And yet Dr. Beck who was a participant in the planning that lead to the peaceful end of apartheid in South Africa says that there are different solutions for different people with different life conditions. No longer is it possible or advisable to use a one size fits all solution for humanity.
